  • Without Jeff Goldblum, Gregory Is Fabulous!

    By Jolie Lives
Jolie Lives-10/22/17 Was just watching "Graham Norton", on BBC America with Hillary R.C., Jeff, Gerard Butler, Jack Whitehall (An English Comedian & quite funny) & Gregory Porter. It was, "The Graham Norton Show" (S22 E4). It should have been called the Jeff Goldblum Special, but then no one would have watched it! Gregory Porter sang, "Mona Lisa", finally succumbing to Jeff's pleading, to accompany him on the piano. Even though Jeff tried to make it his own Musical Interlude, Gregory and his butter melting voice, won out! I wasn't familiar with Gregory Porter, prior to the show, but I am now more delighted that I tape Norton's Show! (Though I must say that every time I watch BBCA, I really miss the Original "Top Gear"! Especially the whack-a-do Episodes. Such as Building a Hoover Craft and a Van that can drive on the Road, before and after, it's caused Absolute Chaos while Powering Through Stratford-On-Avon.) Not only is Gregory coming out with a double record album of songs by Nat King Cole, his voice is actually quite reminiscent of Mr. Cole's vocal luxurious richness. Not to mention, the range of Songs by Mr. Cole, evoking the Joys and Beauty of Life! Such a Treat and a Great Gift to the range of Music, available to those of us who truly adore Music. Even though Mr. Porter's double Album is not yet available for purchase on iTunes, at least two (2) of the Songs from the Album, are. For a young man, with such extraordinary vocal abilities, easily comparable to Artists like Yo Yo Ma, who have no restrictions or reservations when switching between Musical Genres. He's just as phenomenal and comfortable, whether preforming Bach or Brazilian Music and anything in between. Both (Yo Yo) Ma and Porter utilise their Instrument's (A Cello or A Vocal Instrument ) with a Joie de Vivre and Passion, that leaves their Listeners, in a Completely Sated States. Literally, both Artists are more than capable of transforming their Listener's horrid days, into one's in which the attainment of success, merely requires their Listener, to reach out and claim it. As each one, has invested not only their time, but some treasured part of their most intimate, innermost "Truth of Self". Which was so clearly evident while watching and listening to Gregory sing (From a grounded, "Truth of Self", wrapped in a Joie de Vivre (Joy of Life), intermingled with an unfathomable Passion that is electrified and contagious.) "Mona Lisa". While Jeff (Preened like a Peacock), and was clearly playing the piano, for himself. He is an actor, who's turning 65 soon, married for 6 years, to a gymnast (Whom he brought a photo of, in a gymnastic pose, of course.). He spoke about their 3rd Date, where she preformed gymnastics on the Grand piano, he was playing, for an audience. TMI Jeff! Rather then playing the piano, in concert with Gregory, as a springboard supporting Gregory's magnificent voice. Jeff played for himself, which was exacerbated by the camera's close ups of his hands, close ups of his rehearsed movements, his Diva self involved preening. His prearranged, camera captures which looked as natural as those little girls, whose mother's plaster them with makeup and hairstyles covered with so much hairspray, that their hair wouldn't move, in winds that would blow the little girls across a Ballroom. While the few shots of Gregory singing, were of a young man, obviously wondering what hell Jeff was going to do next and why he'd allowed himself to be convinced into allowing just Jeff, to supply "backup" for his performance. The piece de resistance was, once they were both seated on the couch, (After watching Gregory's Amazing Performance & the excruciatingly Painful Performance of Jeff's Supposed Accompaniment.) with Graham's other Guests, Graham showed the audience Gregory's new Album. A double Album, entitled, "Gregory Porter and Nat King Cole". Jeff announced that Gregory had just given him his New CD, backstage, just prior to going on stage, for the Show. Though, as soon as Jeff saw the double Album, he announced that he Had to Have it too, especially as his wife had given him, "a Record Player". If you haven't listened to Gregory Porter's Music, I hope for your sake, that you take this opportunity to do so. Especially once his Album of Nat King Cole's Songs are released!
