Not Your Father's Bryan Adams
By DJ Wi-Fi
This single is a love it or hate it proposition if you read the other comments. It is no longer 1984 and 30 years later Bryan Adams is now in his mid-50s. That said I love this single for what it is rather than what it is not. Alberta Bound in particular is a great live track that features a stripped down/harmonica-playing warmth that fits perfectly with Bryan's "Bare Bones" intimate sound that his fans have been enjoying for the past five years. With the top 40 days of his career over, these gems can be appreciated as Bryan Adams can now say what the hell and do as he pleases.
alberta bound/what the hell i got
alberta bound is a killer tune and it coincides with the acoustic tour well. what the hell i got is a b-side and not designed to be a bryan adams classic since it's a cover tune. alberta bound is awesome. can live without what the hell i got.
"Alberta Bound" is a very good song, but........
I have to echo the comments made by many previous reviewers that this is not the Bryan Adams that I became a die-hard fan of almost twenty years ago. Granted, this song is awesome, but I really do miss the rock songs and power ballads. What in the world made him decide to go the acoustic route and abandon his rock roots? And how about the song "What The Hell I got", huh? Not sure what to think there. Basically, an ok single, but I've heard better from him over the years.
I'm afraid to be rude and rate this negatively. . . BUT this doesn't sound like Bryan Adams at all.
... ok.... it's forcing me to rate to submit.
Bryan Adams is an amazing singer and this is no exception. Every singer has something that sounds different and Bryan Adams sounds great with these songs!
Ok! I have every cd Bryan has ever made! Huge fan! Been a fan every since he came out! No this is not Summer Of '69, nor this isn't the 1980's either?! It!s been 27 years since '69 was released, give him a break! For me,I Love the song! True fans will love all his music, not just the huge hits!!

very glad i ignored the other reviews...both songs are quality and well crafted...big deal that it's not summer of 69 part 2: revenge of the sequel...the guy has had a stellar 30 year career, hasn't he earned the right to do something a wee bit different? it's not like it's a huge departure anyway...lighten up, eh!
Wow, this is really bad...

"What the hell" indeed.
Doesn't sound like the Bryan Adams that I rememer.
Nothing W/O Mutt Lange anymore
Bryan Adams hasn't really come out with anything good since Mutt Lange stopped producing/co-writing his music. That's when Bryan Adam's was good. What the Hell I Got? sounds plain aweful!
